In May 2009, Open Book featured Whazamo!, an online comics celebration that coincided with Ontario National Graphic Novel Month. Whazamo! was curated by Vepo Studios and created to showcase the talented graphic novelists and illustrators published by Ontario Publishers. Vepo Studios made terrific videos for Whazamo!, and we're going to revisit them over the next few months.

Willow Dawson and Susan Hughes spin historical yarns in their graphic novel, No Girls Allowed (Kids Can Press), about women that dressed as men for fortune, fame and love. Follow the lives of women vikings, doctors, generals and soldiers from the age of Pharaohs to the Civil War.
