YA Fiction Writers Benefit from Wattpad and Sourcebooks Partnership
Toronto’s own Wattpad announced its new partnership with Sourcebooks that will benefit both Wattpad YA writers and Sourcebook YA authors. The goal of this partnership is to cross-promote and develop strategies to make their content widely available to all types of readers.
As part of Wattpad’s recent Fan Funding experiment, where writers have an opportunity to enlist their fans and the Wattpad community to help fund their dreams, Sourcebooks will edit and produce those YA stories into print and e-book platforms under the Sourcebooks Fire YA imprint. Sourcebooks will also be a presenting prize sponsor for Wattpad’s 2013 Watty Awards. Successful Wattpad writers will have the opportunity to reach a new readership, secure traditional retail distribution in print and e-book formats.
Several Sourcebook authors including C.J. Lyons, Miranda Kenneally, Janet Gurtler, and Zoraida Cordova, among others, will publish new stories through Wattpad and engage readers as part of their social media marketing strategies and to, in turn, build a new fan base.
