Orange Prize Shortlist Announced
Canadians Nancy Huston (Fault Lines, McArthur & Company) and Heather O’Neill (Lullabies for Little Criminals, HarperCollins) are two of six authors shortlisted for the prestigious Orange Prize for Fiction. The prize, established in 1996, is awarded annually to celebrate "excellence, originality and accessibility in women’s writing." The winner will be awarded £30,000 (approximately $60,000 CAD) and a bronze statue created by artist Grizel Niven. Also on the shortlist are Sadie Jones for The Outcast, Charlotte Mendelson for When We Were Bad, Rose Tremain for The Road Home and Patricia Wood for Lottery.
