Kingston Writersfest kicks off on Wednesday, September 22 in an evening of song, stories, film and theatre celebrating the life and works of Paul Quarrington, Canada's literary virtuoso.

Quarrington's band, the Porkbelly Futures, will take the stage, as well as novelists Nino Ricci and Cordelia Strube; writers/musicians Dan Hill and Dave Bidini; "the hungry novelist" blogger Kim Moritsugu; Queen's writer-in-residence Stuart Ross; Kingston writer Steven Heighton, and actors under the direction of Jim Garrard.

Friday, September 24th, the newly established International Marquee spotlights Joyce Carol Oates. She appears in conversation with Canada's own premier novelist, Jane Urquhart, who is releasing a new novel this year, Sanctuary Line.

Other festival guests announced include: award-winning ad guru Terry O'Reilly; the creative team behind KENK: A Graphic Portrait, including Queen's University alumni Jason Gilmore and Alex Jansen; and internationally renowned food writer and Julia Child collaborator, Dorie Greenspan, who will appear at the new Cook Not Mad Sunday Brunch.
