National Poetry Month Event: A Feast of Authors
Join poets Gloria Alvernaz Mulcahy. Blaine Marchand, Katerina Fretwell, Daniel Kolos and Penn Kemp at A Feast of Authors at the St. Lawrence Market North, 92 Front Street East, Toronto, on April 3 at 6:00 p.m. Free admission.
The event is organized by Toronto Dollar, an organization dedicated to supporting local initiatives in the multi-cultural, multi-income level St. Lawrence Market neighborhood. The five seasoned poets will be reading throughout the evening, and in addition, there will be an open mic for readers in other genres, ensuring the event is as inclusive as possible... there will be no borders between prose and poetry.
In addition, the poets will perform several different translations of Penn Kemp’s Poem for Peace in Many Voices: just another way this event will transcend borders, in this case language barriers. All five of the readers have contributed to, translated and/or participated in readings of Poem for Peace in Many Voices. The voices will be reading in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Ojibwa, Pig Latin, Elvish, Hungarian, Ancient Egyptian, Pashtun (from Afghanistan) and Latin.
