As much as I’ve tried to avoid the easy analogy, I continue to find that thinking about Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in relation to the 18-year-old Toronto literary festival, which came to be known simply as the Scream, is the only way to proceed. Let me be upfront from the beginning: I have been involved with the Scream in one way or another almost from its inception in 1993.
