Jeff Szpirglas

Jeff Szpirglas loves disgusting things—in fact there is very little that can gross him out. That's why writing his first book, the highly acclaimed Gross Universe: Your Guide to All Disgusting Things Under the Sun, was great fun for him. He thoroughly enjoyed a job that let him e-mail a lot of scientists and ask them about vomit and slime molds (he got fired for doing this at his last job).
Gross Universe was shortlisted for the Canadian Science Writers’ Association Science in Society Children’s Book Award and was a finalist for the Independent Publishers Award. They Did WHAT?!: Your Guide to Weird & Wacky Things People Do is Jeff’s second book.
Jeff’s stories have been published in Chirp and chickaDEE magazines, where he has also worked as the kids’ page editor. He has written for the television series’ Polka Dot Shorts, Ricky’s Room, and System Crash, and co-produced two radio pieces for CBC’s Out Front.
Jeff is currently living in Toronto, influencing young minds on a daily basis as an elementary school teacher. He is very good at typing and very bad at singing, and does a lot of both.
