Poetry meets painting in an unusual combined reading and exhibition on Sunday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m at the Women's Art Association at 23 Prince Arthur Ave. in Toronto. Five published poets -- Merle Nudelman, John Oughton, Mary Lou Soutar-Hynes, Sheila Stewart and Elana Wolff -- will reading works written in response, or resonant with, visual arts pieces by the studio members of the Association. Jeffrey Alford and Naomi Duguid’s four previous books have all been major award-winners. Seductions of Rice and HomeBaking, their most recent book, each won a Cuisine Canada Cookbook Award (in 1999 and 2004). John McFetridge will be reading from his new mystery, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere (ECW Press), on April 16 at 6:30 at Just Us Cafe in the Beaches (2010 Queen Street East).

John McFetridge, author of Dirty Sweet and Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, became fascinated with crime when attending a murder trial at age twelve with his police officer brother. McFetridge has co-written a short story collection, Below the Line. He lives in Toronto with his family, and writes regular updates on his blog.

All four of these Italian Canadian poets have earned praise for their published works.
