Lyn Hamilton is the author of a successful series of archaeological mysteries published by Berkley Prime Crime in New York. Author and social activist Rozena Maart will be in town to read from and discuss her new novel, The Writing Circle (TSAR, 2007). Rozena will discuss the themes in her novels, specifically the topics of women's rights and violence against women, with special focus on the violence and social injustices in South Africa. The Royal Alexandra Portfolio by Edward Burtynsky was commissioned by David Mirvish to mark the theatre’s 100th anniversary in 2007. The photographs are included in The Royal Alexandra Theatre: A Celebration of 100 Years by Robert Brockhouse (McArthur & Company), and will be editioned strictly limited to photographs and portfolios ordered before May 31, 2008. Come to a tea and presentation by Kathy Knowles, founder of Osu Children's Library Fund (OCLF), a not-for-profit organization in Ghana that connects African children to the joy of reading. The OCLF creates libraries, stocks them with culturally appropriate books, and provides literacy classes for children and adults. Raffle tickets will be selling for $1.
